The October 21st, 2016 is one of the most important dates for MSSUI. It is the day for our grandest event of the year, Malaysian Night 2016.

Malaysian Night had been planned since Spring 2016. We elected the committees and gave tasks for them to do through the Summer. Adam Harris has been chosen as the Director this time.

As the Fall semester started, we started to work harder than before. Every students started practicing every week while the Fundraising Department tried to reach as many sponsors as possible. One of the most successful fundraising events was the bake sale. We sold several Malaysian's traditional food and gained profit, often more than we anticipated.

On the day itself, we got about 200 attendees, including students from other universities including Drake University, Iowa State University and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Our theme this year was Balik Kampung (literally translated Going Back to the Village), telling a story about an American (acted by Zarif Imran) follows his Malaysian's friend (acted By Jas Khairulshazwan) going back to his hometown. During his visit in Malaysia, he was introduced with the culture and diversity in Malaysia.

During the event, our students performed various kind of dances such as Bhangra, Zapin, Fan Dance and Igal-igal Dance. We also introduced to the audience our food and tradition.

We also prepared a small exhibition at the back of the hall to provide more information about Malaysia and our performances.

At the end of the day, it was a successful event. We hope that we will be able to organize such a major event in the upcoming future. :)
